Trade-in appraisal

The trade-in appraisal app for Canadian dealerships

Appraise for Dealers takes a trade-in from VIN to a written offer on one phone: scan the engine, photograph the car, get wholesale grades and Canadian retail comps, and see a max buy with every line of the math. Then hand the customer an offer sheet that shows comparable cars and the reconditioning their car needs, without exposing your internal numbers.

How it works

How does a trade-in appraisal work in Appraise?

Run the full appraisal in order, or skip any step. The results stack on one car.

  1. VINScan the barcode or type it. Appraise decodes year, engine and trim, and you enter the km.
  2. ScanPlug in a BLE reader for codes, readiness monitors and cleared-code flags, with repair estimates at your labour rate.
  3. InspectTake walk-around photos. Dents, paint, rust, leaks and tires are flagged for you to accept, edit or dismiss.
  4. ValueWholesale grades and Canadian retail comps near your rooftop, then your max buy and trade-in offer.
  5. OfferShare a branded offer sheet with the customer, printed or texted.
  6. InventoryBuy it, add it to inventory with one tap, and track it until it sells.
For the desk

What does the appraiser see?

The numbers that matter first, and the math behind each one a tap away.

  • Max buy and trade-in offer at the top
  • Wholesale grades from Extra clean to Rough, with the suggested grade from your scan and photos
  • Comparable listings and recently sold cars, with count, range and confidence
  • Recon broken down by scan, inspection and manual items

Values are estimates and a starting point for your judgement, not a guaranteed price.

For the customer

What does the customer see?

An offer they can follow from the market to the number, so the conversation is about evidence, not opinions.

  • Your branding: dealership logo, details and salesperson.
  • Their car: year, make, model, trim, VIN, km and a photo.
  • The market: five to eight comparable cars for sale or recently sold, with a km-adjusted range.
  • The condition: accepted recon items with costs, and scan findings in plain English.
  • The summary: market retail − recon − repairs − typical selling costs = your offer, with a valid-until date.

Your max buy, wholesale grades, target gross, pack, transport and negotiation buffer never appear, and neither does any data source name. The page is checked for them before it can be shared. Our guide on presenting a trade-in offer covers how to walk a customer through it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it without an OBD reader?

Yes. Value needs only a VIN and km, and Inspect needs only photos. A reader adds the engine scan and cleared-code flags.

Does it work for auction and wholesale buying too?

Yes. Value any VIN before you bid; your auction fee and transport settings come off the max buy automatically.

Can the customer see my max buy?

No. The customer offer sheet shows the market, the condition and your offer, never your max buy, wholesale, pack or gross.

Can my whole team use it?

Yes. Invite appraisers and managers from Settings. Everyone sees the same appraisals, inventory and rates, according to their role.

How long does a value take?

About a minute from VIN to max buy. A full appraisal with a scan and photos takes as long as your walk-around.
